Darryl is a licensed
Paramedic in Alabama. Retiring from the Post Office he became interested
in the Medical field. Starting out volunteering for a non profit
Ambulance Service before owning his own Ambulance Service, he has since
returned to part time work for a friend's ambulance service. Darryl has
continued his education through the years and specializes in many areas
such as Emergency Medical Care for Neo-Natal, Juvenile and the Elderly.
He currently instructs CPR & AED classes as well as the continued
certification testing for other Paramedics and Basic EMT's.
Darryl is an integral part
of Te-Awa Poodles as he cares for the Poodles when Sandi is away and
assists with all phases of the care of puppies and adults. The Poodles
adore him and often he has to fight his way for a space in the bed
at night. With his medical background he is able to care for the Poodles
with expertise that many would not normally have.
Sandi has
had connections with animals all her life. As a child Sandi
would drag home any animal as long as it had four legs, furry
and a tail and even some without the tail. Often not able to
keep the animal, she knew that when she was an adult, she would
continue her love of animals. Originating from New Zealand,
Sandi came to the States in 1975. In 1977 Sandi went to work in
San Antonio, Texas for Wallace Larsen; DVM and Jim Roffin; DVM
in Wallace Larsen's Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Larsen had recently
started the Preventative medicine program, on cattle breeding
farms. He also introduced Cryo Surgery at that time, of which
Sandi got the experience of assisting with. Sandi continued her
education with other Veterinarian's through out the next 30
years.
For many
years Sandi has been involved in colour genetics and many other
aspects of the pet industry. A professional groomer and teacher,
she has owned two shops and still currently owns her own
grooming business. Starting in the AKC show world with Italian
Greyhounds she has several Champions, owner handled. When
Poodles became her sole love she began a mission to breed and
improve the Red Standards. The AKC show ring was not accepting
of Reds at that time, with her Red breedings came continual
Partis. In breeding her Reds to her Blacks to improve density of
color Sandi began getting Black and White Partis. Deciding that
the conformation and the colour was too beautiful to dismiss
from her breeding program, she began doing research into the
Multi-Colours. Sandi continues her education through her
experience of breedings, and with the assistance of many
specialists in their fields.
Today Sandi breeds Parti Poodles and Black and Creams in Standard and
the German Kleinpudel sizes, specializing in the Tuxedo and
Phantom patterns. Her Poodles are being shown in the UKC
venue by either herself or a co-breeder and owner of her
Standards, Heather Bryan of Prodigy Standard Poodles.
